atrophic - [ey-trof-ic] adjective - decreasing in size, especially referring to muscle mass

compensatory hyperhidrosis [com-pen-suh-tor-ee hi-per-hi-droh-sis] noun – a side effect of ETS characterized by extreme sweating below the nipple line

corposcindosis [kor-poh-sin-doh-sis] noun – an autonomic neuropathy in which sympathetic nerve function has been divided into two distinct bodily regions – an upper region that is paralyzed, and a lower region that is still functional and potentially hyperactive.

endoscopic [en-duh-skop-ik] adjective – utilizing an endoscope (a surgical instrument with a small camera connected to a video display)

ETS  (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy) noun – a surgical procedure, utilizing an endoscope, in which part of the sympathetic chain in the upper thoracic region is destroyed.

ganglion [gang-glee-on] noun - a mass of nerve cell bodies, typically linked by synapses, and often forming a swelling on a nerve fiber

homeostasis [hoh-mee-oh-stey-sis] noun - the tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability, owing to the coordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or function

hypertrophic [hie-per-trof-ic] adjective – increasing in size, especially referring to muscle mass

neuropathy [nur-ah-puh-thee] noun – a disease of the nervous system

necrosis [nek-roh-sis] noun – cell death

side effect noun - any effect of a drug, chemical, or surgery that is in addition to its intended effect, especially an effect that is harmful or unpleasant

sympathectomy [sim-puh-thek-tuh-mee]  noun - a surgical procedure in which some part of the sympathetic chain is destroyed

sympathetic chain [sim-puh-thet-ik cheyn] noun – a portion of the sympathetic nervous system, comprised of two chains of nerve ganglia, running along either side of the spine

thermoregulation [thur-moh-reg-yuh-ley-shuh] noun - the regulation of body temperature
